Hyperbolic groups with 1-dimensional boundary

چکیده
If a torsion-free hyperbolic group G has 1-dimensional boundary ∂∞G, then ∂∞G is a Menger curve or a Sierpinski carpet provided G does not split over a cyclic group. When ∂∞G is a Sierpinski carpet we show that G is a quasiconvex subgroup of a 3-dimensional hyperbolic Poincaré duality group. We also construct a “topologically rigid” hyperbolic group G: any homeomorphism of ∂∞G is induced by an element of G.

Effects of Non-uniform Suction, Heat Generation/Absorption and Chemical Reaction with Activation Energy on MHD Falkner-Skan Flow of Tangent Hyperbolic Nanofluid over a Stretching/Shrinking Eedge
In the present investigation, the magnetohydrodynamic Falkner-Skan flow of tangent hyperbolic nanofluids over a stretching/shrinking wedge with variable suction, internal heat generation/absorption and chemical reaction with activation energy have been scrutinized. Nanofluid model is composed of “Brownian motion’’ and “Thermophoresis’’. Transformed non-dimensional coupled non-linear equations a...
متن کاملOn Hyperbolic Groups with Spheres as Boundary
Let G be a torsion-free hyperbolic group and let n ≥ 6 be an integer. We prove that G is the fundamental group of a closed aspherical manifold if the boundary of G is homeomorphic to an (n − 1)-dimensional sphere.
متن کاملParabolic Groups Acting on One-dimensional Compact Spaces
Given a class of compact spaces, we ask which groups can be maximal parabolic subgroups of a relatively hyperbolic group whose boundary is in the class. We investigate the class of 1-dimensional connected boundaries. We get that any non-torsion infinite f.g. group is a maximal parabolic subgroup of some relatively hyperbolic group with connected one-dimensional boundary without global cut point...
متن کاملBending, buckling and free vibration responses of hyperbolic shear deformable FGM beams
This study investigated bending, buckling, and free vibration responses of hyperbolic shear deformable functionally graded (FG) higher order beams. The material properties of FG beams are varied through thickness according to power law distribution; here, the FG beam was made of aluminium/alumina, and the hyperbolic shear deformation theory was used to evaluate the effect of shear deformation i...
متن کاملA classification of hyperbolic manifolds related to the three-dimensional torus
L. Paoluzzi constructed a family of compact orientable three-dimensional hyperbolic manifolds with totally geodesic boundary, which were, by construction, closely related to the three-dimensional torus. This paper gives their complete classification up to isometry, and also their isometry groups. The key tool is the so-called canonical decomposition of hyperbolic manifolds.
